Resultados do projeto BIOFOCO III I - Project Portal A Biofoco III project portal was created using the wiki technology. Two areas are available on the portal: one for the general public, with research information, new algorithms and new developed tools, and a resticted area for the internal use for the participants of the project. II - Algorithms  n3GC    n3GC is a tool to compare genes of three genomes, at sequence level. It uses the concept of BBH implemented with All-versus-all Blast search to indicate families of paralogous genes and groups of these families among three organisms. - http://egg.dct.ufms.br/n3gc/ BioAgents    A Multiagent Tool for Manual Annotation Recommendation on Genome Sequencing Projects. SOM-Portrait    SOM-PORTRAIT method was proposed, implemented and applied to a set containing assembled ESTs of the P. brasiliensis fungus transcriptome, and the analized results indicated a good accuracy or the method. Together with the use of EELA-2’s project infrastructure, a distributed implementation of the method was also proposed, and obtained expressive improvement in execution time for large input data.  SVM-Portrait    Ab Initio ncRNA predictio. PORTRAIT is suitable for ncRNA analysis of transcriptomes from poorly characterized species. Sequences are translated by software that is resistant to sequencing errors, and the predicted putative proteins, along with their source transcripts, are evaluated for coding potential by a support vector machine (SVM). Either of two SVM models may be employed: if a putative protein is found, a protein-dependent SVM model is used; if it is not found, a protein-independent SVM model is used instead. Only ab initio features are extracted, so that no homology information is needed.
